When your debt counsellor fails you, you can trust AACS to resolve with the NCR

Since inception of debt counselling in 2007, 4513 debt counsellors were accredited and registered on the NCR database. Over 3000 has since left the practice for various reasons and are no longer involved in debt counselling. This has left thousands of consumers with a permanent debt review flag without a debt counsellor to render the after-care service and the ultimate removal of the debt review flag. Without a debt counsellor to monitor your debt review progress, you are indefinitely stuck with a debt review flag on your credit record even when your debts have been paid in full and your financial circumstance have improved.

The Alternative After-Care Difference

There are Debt Counsellors - NCR Trained; Accredited & Regulated - mandated by the NCR to conduct consumer financial  circumstance assessment and execute prescribed procedures to place over-indebted consumers under the protection of debt review, and to render after-care service in terms of Section 86 of the NCA.
These are professional practitioners in the business of rendering mandated service and collect fees.
Sadly while the majority (65%) of debt counsellors have left the profession, very few of these professionals comply with the after-care mandate to ensure release of the consumers from debt review.

And then

There are After-Care Service Providers
- NCR Trained; Certified and Independent - dedicated to enforcing consumer rights in the debt review environment and rendering after-care service to ensure the release of eligible consumers from debt review in terms of Section 136, Regulation 50 of the NCA.
This is a special group of Ncr trained professionals (including volunteer accredited debt counsellors) whose focus and concern is to save the consumer from unprofessional, neglect, fraudulent, unlawful practices and sub-standard service delivery that is prevalent in the debt counselling industry.

The Alternative After-Care Service (AACS) is the result of an intensive research of the shortcomings of the debt review exit process which is mainly due to debt counsellors who neglect to render after-care service or are no longer involved in debt counselling leaving thousands of consumers indefinitely stuck under debt review. As a result of the enomous data - the Alternative After-Care Service was established with the goal of creating a platform for the debt review consumers to voice their struggles with the NCR and seek prompt resolution. The Alternative After-Care platform is a conduit that connects the debt review consumers directly with the NCR to investigate and resolve debt review disputes.

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) is a regulatory body that was established under the National Credit Act, 2005 (Act No. 34 of 2005). The NCR operates as an entity within the framework of this legislation. The NCR oversees the registration and regulation of debt counselors. The NCR monitors compliance with the National Credit Act and has the authority to enforce compliance. This includes investigating complaints, conducting inspections, and taking enforcement actions when necessary.

AACS is actively seeking and collaborating with consumers, debt counsellors and credit providers to eliminate undesirable elements and restore the tarnished reputation of debt counselling.

Partners & Consumer Reviews

"Over 3000 debt counsellors have left the debt counselling practice leaving thousands of consumers stuck with the debt review flag on their credit record. What NCRA is doing is filling the gap to help stranded consumers to exit the abandoned or unlawful debt review situation, especially where the debt counsellor on record is no longer available to release their clients from debt review. We recommend NCRA service is an essential platform to connect consumers with the NCR to resolve debt review issues"

Debt Counsellor- Gauteng

"Debt Counselling is a full time and complex undertaking that requires the debt counsellor's full attention. As debt counsellors, we cannot handle disputes for clients who  signed-up with other debt counsellors. We receive many disputes from consumers who are not our clients, we refer them  to Ncr or Ncra"
We recommend Ncra for consumers  who have been unlawfully placed under debt review or lost contact with their debt counsellor.

Debt Counsellor - Pietermaritzburg

" I've been stuck under debt review for 9 years. I tried everything to get the flag removed from my credit record, paid lots of money to lawyers and other service providers. Out of desperation to give it one more try, I registered with NCRA. It took 2 months longer that I expected, but now I am free from the ordeal of debt review. My life is back on track..Thank you Ncra Team"

Avery Woodard - Stellenbosch

"I want to thank you for stepping in when my lawyer struggled to remove the debt review flag for 3 years and used your platform. Your call centre consultants are very comforting and professional, I shall recommend your service to any one I know"

Sipho Nxumalo - Eastern Cape

" I was very sceptical when a friend referred me to NCRA as I've tried clearing my name with many service providers since 2017. I reluctanly registered and before I paid all service fees I received my Clearance Certificate directly from NCR. I am over the moon and shall recommend my colleagues who are also trapped under the debt review for a long time. Thank you Team.
