Debt Review Listing & Debt Counsellor Status

Debt Counselling is a voluntary and consensual process which results in the Tribunal or a Magistrate Court re-arranging the consumer’s debt

How the Free Status Check Works

The list below shows the 3 types of notations that are displayed on your credit record when you have applied for debt review.

The debt review notification displayed on your credit report represents the phase or stage of your debt counselling progress. Each code or notation has a prescribed timeframe and is changed accordingly with each step of the debt counselling process.

Code A - can only be displayed for a maximum of 30 days after the application
Code D3 - can only be displayed for 60 days after the application.
Code D4 - is displayed until all accounts are settled or a clearance certificate is issued

Where the status is not D4, and the date of the displayed code (A or D3) is older that 60 days, it means that the debt review process is not finalised or completed and therefore the debt review process can be cancelled or the debt review flag can be disputed and removed.

Statistics show that where the status is (A), after 30 days of application, there is a high possibility that the listing is unlawful or the debt counsellor abandoned the process.

Standard Credit Bureau debt review status notations:
A- Consumer is Under Debt Review
A - Applied for debt counselling and being assessed
A - Consumer has Applied for Debt Review
A - Consent for Restructuring
A - Application for Voluntary Debt Restructuring
D3 - Formal debt re-structuring through the courts has commenced
D4 - Formal debt re-structuring is completed, and a court order granted
D4 - Consent Order for Statutory Debt Restructuring

Credit Bureau Status Definition
